This piece marks a significant milestone in my practice as my very first work with a fully completed background. Inspired by a striking pop-cultural icon, I was intensely drawn to the cinematic contrast between the deep cobalt blue and the warm, golden hues of the hair. On the fragile sketchbook page, the slow-drying oil layers were built up with deliberate thickness to give physical weight to the gaze and the bold red kiss mark. Left with raw margins and exposed textures, this painting remains one of my most cherished personal studies.
