Excluding my own self-portraits, this piece marks the absolute beginning of my journey into oil portraiture. Driven by the captivating and sharp presence of a modern cultural icon, I took my very first deliberate steps of layering oil medium on a raw sketchbook page. The composition intentionally focuses on the symmetric intensity of the gaze, balanced by bold, crimson undertones along the skin. Serving as the foundation for all subsequent works, this inaugural study holds an irreplaceable emotional and historical weight in my practice.
